Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced
EHS Advisor to join a leading main contractor delivering complex, large-scale construction projects in the
Greater Manchester area. This role offers the chance to play a key part in the delivery of landmark developments while ensuring the highest standards of
Environmental, Health & Safety performance across all site activities.
As the on-site EHS Advisor, you will be instrumental in promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and compliance, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and site teams throughout the construction lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities - Provide competent and professional advice on all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety across construction projects.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with legislation, industry standards, and internal procedures.
- Carry out site inspections, risk assessments, method statement reviews, and environmental audits.
- Support site teams with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventative action planning.
- Deliver site-based inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing EHS training for staff and subcontractors.
- Assist in the preparation and review of Construction Phase Plans and Environmental Management Plans.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s EHS management system and processes.
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams to promote best practice and a proactive safety culture.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of EHS metrics and KPIs to senior management.
Requirements Essential: - Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role within the construction industry.
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent H&S qualification).
- Solid understanding of CDM Regulations, UK HSE legislation, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to influence and engage teams at all levels on health, safety, and environmental matters.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate with experience using reporting and auditing tools.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Greater Manchester.
Desirable: - IEMA Foundation Certificate or equivalent environmental qualification.
- Working towards or holding GradIOSH / TechIOSH status.
- Experience on residential high-rise or mixed-use developments.
