GDS Partners are currently recruiting for a Sustainability & Environmental Coordinator to join a leading UK Main Contractor, supporting the delivery of construction projects across the Thames Valley.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Environmental or Sustainability professional with at least 1 year's experience to join a major construction business offering excellent training, exposure to multiple projects, and long-term career development.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with project and site teams across the Thames Valley, supporting the implementation and continual improvement of environmental and sustainability standards across live construction projects.
The role will involve a combination of site-based environmental support, inspections, compliance monitoring, sustainability reporting, and assisting project teams in meeting company and client environmental objectives.
Main Duties Will Include: - Carry out environmental site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Support the implementation of environmental and sustainability requirements across construction projects.
- Assist with environmental management plans and project-specific environmental documentation.
- Monitor areas including waste, energy, water, carbon emissions and resource efficiency.
- Collect, analyse and report environmental and sustainability performance data.
- Support carbon reduction and sustainable construction initiatives.
- Assist project teams with environmental risk identification and pollution prevention measures.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Work closely with site teams, subcontractors and the supply chain to promote environmental best practice.
- Assist with environmental inductions, toolbox talks and awareness initiatives.
- Maintain environmental records and support internal and external audits.
- Promote continuous improvement in environmental and sustainability performance.
Requirements: - Minimum 1 year's experience within an Environmental, Sustainability or related role.
- Ideally an HND or higher qualification in Environmental Management, Sustainability, Environmental Science or another related discipline.
- Construction, civil engineering or built environment experience would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of environmental and sustainability principles.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and ISO 14001 would be advantageous.
- Strong communication, organisational and reporting skills.
- Ability to work effectively with project teams, site management and subcontractors.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites across the Thames Valley.
