Overview An excellent opportunity has arisen for a
Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Advisor to join a major
Data Centre construction project in
Greater Cardiff Area. This role is ideal for a seasoned safety professional with a proven background in delivering EHS support on
large-scale, mission-critical builds.
You will take the lead in managing all on-site environmental, health, and safety matters, ensuring full compliance with legislative, contractual, and best-practice requirements.
Key Responsibilities - Drive the implementation of EHS procedures and ensure full compliance across the project site.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are identified, tracked, and closed.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all EHS matters, working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Report directly to the EHS Lead, providing regular updates on site performance, issues, and improvements.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and targeted EHS training to maintain a high standard of safety awareness.
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, compile detailed reports, and ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated and implemented.
- Monitor and evaluate subcontractor EHS performance, supporting their adherence to project-specific standards and regulations.
- Promote and embed a proactive, positive safety culture across all levels of the project workforce.
Essential Requirements - Minimum of 5–7 years’ experience in a senior EHS role within the construction industry.
- Demonstrable experience working on Data Centre construction projects or similarly complex technical builds.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant professional membership (e.g. Tech IOSH, Grad IOSH, or CMIOSH).
- Deep understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience working with Tier 1 contractors and managing multiple subcontractor interfaces.
- Ability to thrive in a high-performance, high-compliance construction environment.
Desirable - Background in mission-critical or high-tech sectors (e.g. pharmaceuticals, semi-conductors, hyperscale facilities).
- Environmental or sustainability qualifications (IEMA, ISO14001 experience).
- Experience working under client-driven or regulatory audit regimes.
