The Opportunity:
GDS Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Principal Designer (CDM) to join a well-established Specialist Construction Consultancy based in Berkshire.
Our client provides professional construction consultancy services to developers and contractors across the UK, supporting a wide range of construction and development projects.
This is an excellent Hybrid opportunity for an experienced CDM professional to take ownership of their own projects, work closely with clients and design teams, and play an important role in delivering high-quality Health & Safety and Principal Designer services across the South of England.
Key Responsibilities: - Act as CDM Principal Designer across a portfolio of construction projects, ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations 2015.
- Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate Health & Safety throughout the pre-construction phase.
- Provide professional CDM and Health & Safety advice to clients, designers and contractors.
- Prepare and review Pre-Construction Information, Construction Phase Plans, RAMS and Health & Safety Files.
- Lead design risk reviews, identifying and managing foreseeable construction risks.
- Conduct site inspections, client monitoring visits and construction risk assessments.
- Liaise with project stakeholders and coordinate design review meetings.
- Manage project documentation, reporting and associated administration.
- Support the wider CDM team and maintain strong client relationships.
Requirements: - Minimum 2-5 years' experience working as a CDM Principal Designer.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015, the Building Safety Act and relevant UK Health & Safety legislation.
- Association for Project Safety (APS) membership – minimum IMaPS, with CMaPS preferred.
- Relevant Health & Safety qualification, ideally NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, design drawings and design risk management.
- Experience preparing and reviewing CDM documentation and Health & Safety Files.
- Excellent communication, organisational and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable: - Degree or equivalent qualification in a construction or built environment discipline.
- CMIOSH or membership of another relevant professional institution.
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate.
Salary & Benefits: - £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on experience
