The Role
GDS Partners are recruiting for experienced Mechanical and Electrical Estimators on behalf of an established M&E Contractor based in Wolverhampton.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of projects across the UK. We are looking to speak with both Mechanical Estimators and Electrical Estimators who have previous experience working within the M&E/building services sector.
The successful candidates will play an important role within the pre-construction team, taking responsibility for the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders from initial enquiry through to submission, negotiation and project handover.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare detailed and accurate Mechanical or Electrical estimates for a range of M&E projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documentation and employer requirements.
- Complete detailed take-offs and establish labour, material, plant and subcontractor requirements.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
- Prepare competitive tender submissions within agreed deadlines.
- Identify commercial and technical risks within tender documentation.
- Review designs and specifications to identify scope gaps, omissions and potential value-engineering opportunities.
- Prepare tender clarifications, qualifications, assumptions and exclusions.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
- Work closely with internal Design, Commercial, Procurement and Project teams.
- Attend tender reviews, client meetings and post-tender negotiations where required.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and cost information.
- Support the formal handover of successfully secured projects to the delivery team.
- Assist in developing value-engineering proposals and alternative technical solutions.
Candidate Requirements - Previous experience as a Mechanical Estimator, Electrical Estimator or M&E Estimator.
- Experience working for an M&E Contractor or within the building services sector.
- Strong understanding of either mechanical or electrical building services installations.
- Proven experience preparing estimates and tender submissions for construction projects.
- Ability to confidently interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of labour, material and subcontractor costs.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively to deadlines.
- Strong communication skills when dealing with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.
- A relevant qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction or a related discipline would be advantageous.
Salary & Package - £60,000 – £70,000 per annum
