GDS has partnered with a well-known main contractor to recruit a Junior Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation involved in high-profile construction projects throughout the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities - Hazard Identification: Assist in conducting routine site inspections and basic risk assessments to help identify potential hazards and suggest preventative measures under supervision.
- Compliance Support: Support the team in ensuring the site is operating in line with relevant HSE legislation, company procedures, and industry standards.
- Safety System Assistance: Work closely with the EHS Lead to help implement safety management systems that align with legal and organisational requirements.
- Incident Support: Participate in investigations of incidents and near misses, helping to gather information and assist in identifying root causes and solutions.
- Record Management: Help maintain accurate records of safety audits, incidents, and key health & safety metrics.
- Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with site teams, subcontractors, and management to promote safe working environments and escalate any concerns as needed.
- Training Involvement: Assist in delivering toolbox talks, safety inductions, and general EHS training under guidance from senior team members.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to ongoing reviews of health and safety performance and support initiatives aimed at improving site safety.
Candidate Requirement - Relevant qualification
- Prior experience on large-scale commercial or construction projects preferred
- High attention to detail and a proactive attitude
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- A full, clean UK driving licence is advantageous
