HSEQ Advisor - Civil Engineering Contractor - Kent, UK

GDS Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced HSEQ Advisor to join an established Civil Engineering Contractor, supporting the delivery of Data Centre projects across Kent and the surrounding region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HSEQ professional with experience across civil engineering, telecommunications or infrastructure projects to join a growing contractor with a strong pipeline of work and excellent opportunities for long-term career development.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with project management and site teams to maintain high standards across Health, Safety, Environment and Quality, identifying hazards, minimising risk and ensuring compliance with company, client and legislative requirements.

Main Duties Will Include:
  • Carry out regular HSEQ site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
  • Support the implementation and continual development of HSEQ Management Systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Prepare, review and monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensure sites remain compliant with relevant HSEQ legislation, company procedures and client requirements.
  • Provide practical HSEQ advice and guidance to Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams.
  • Review, approve and monitor subcontractor works and associated HSEQ documentation.
  • Assist with Construction Stage Plans, Emergency Response Plans, PQQs and tender documentation.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and internal HSEQ training.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, establish root causes and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor HSEQ performance, objectives, targets and KPIs.
  • Support external audits relating to ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a positive HSEQ culture across all projects.
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum Level 7 Degree qualification or equivalent.
  • Previous experience within Civil Engineering, Telecommunications or a similar construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of RAMS, audits, inspections and incident investigation.
  • Experience working with HSEQ management systems.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work effectively with management, project teams and subcontractors.
  • A genuine passion for Health, Safety, Environment & Quality.
