HSEQ Advisor – Rail Construction Location: UK Wide (Regular Travel Required)

Role Overview An opportunity has arisen for an experienced
HSEQ Advisor to support rail construction projects across the UK. The role will involve working closely with delivery teams to ensure the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance are embedded across all phases of rail infrastructure works.
This is a field-based role requiring extensive site engagement, proactive safety leadership, and a strong understanding of the UK rail construction environment.
Key Responsibilities - Provide competent HSEQ advice and support across rail construction projects nationwide
- Ensure compliance with UK HSEQ legislation, rail standards, client requirements, and internal procedures
- Carry out site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety tours, producing detailed reports and follow-up actions
- Support accident, incident, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Review and support the development of RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, and safe systems of work
- Promote a positive HSEQ culture through engagement with site teams, supervisors, and subcontractors
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and HSEQ communications
- Monitor environmental controls and quality standards to ensure project compliance
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners on HSEQ matters
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and KPI reporting
Essential Requirements - Minimum 3 years’ experience in an HSEQ role within the UK Rail Construction industry
- Strong knowledge of rail construction activities and associated risks
- Sound understanding of UK H&S legislation and rail industry standards
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and investigations
- Ability to work independently across multiple sites
- Willingness to travel UK wide
- Full, clean UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications & Experience - NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Rail competencies such as Sentinel (PTS)
- Experience working on major rail infrastructure or construction projects
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management systems
