GDS Partners are recruiting for an experienced Head of Commissioning to join a leading M&E Contractor, based at their head office in Banbridge.
This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for overseeing commissioning activities across major MEP projects throughout the UK. The successful candidate will be based primarily from the Banbridge office, with regular nationwide travel to live projects, including Bristol, Birmingham and London.
We are looking for an experienced commissioning professional with a strong MEP background who can provide technical and strategic leadership across multiple projects. Data Centre experience would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities - Lead and oversee the commissioning function across multiple MEP projects.
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, plans and procedures from pre-construction through to final handover.
- Provide technical leadership and direction to commissioning teams across live projects.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical and associated building services systems.
- Work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Design Teams and site delivery teams to ensure commissioning requirements are integrated into project programmes.
- Monitor commissioning progress, identifying potential programme or technical issues and implementing appropriate solutions.
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, client requirements and relevant standards.
- Oversee testing, documentation, system validation and final project handover.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other key stakeholders throughout the commissioning process.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of commissioning standards and processes across the business.
- Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to commissioning personnel.
- Regularly visit projects throughout the UK, including London, Birmingham and Bristol.
Experience & Qualifications - 10–15 years' experience in Commissioning within MEP operations.
- Significant experience delivering commissioning activities across major M&E projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
- Previous experience leading commissioning teams and managing multiple projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong understanding of project commissioning, testing and handover processes.
- Data Centre experience is preferred.
- Willingness to travel regularly to projects throughout the UK.
- Right to work in the UK/EU is required.
