EHS Advisor - Main Contractor - Netherlands

About the Role
GDS Partners are recruiting for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading Main Contractor delivering a major construction project in the Netherlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an EHS professional with large-scale construction experience who is interested in working internationally. The successful candidate will support the project team in maintaining high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental performance while helping to promote a positive safety culture across the project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement company EHS policies and provide practical Health & Safety guidance to project teams.
  • Assist with the preparation, review and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures and project documentation.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring corrective actions are closed out.
  • Complete and review risk assessments, RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Identify project training requirements and deliver EHS inductions, toolbox talks and training where required.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with project EHS standards.
  • Work closely with project management, site teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders to promote a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare reports on project safety performance.
  • Support the EHS Lead with the ongoing implementation and improvement of the project EHS strategy.
Requirements
  • Third-level qualification in Environmental Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ EHS experience within construction.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale commercial or construction projects.
  • Data Centre or other mission-critical project experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of site inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced international project environment.
  • Right to work in the EU is required
  • Full driving licence preferred.
